Executive summary

Electronic commerce in Slovenia has a relatively long tradition, but it is limited to a basic electronic messages in the retailers supply chains environments (ordering and delivering). GS1 standard EANCOM is prevailing in this area and all major retailers and their top suppliers are exchanging EANCOM messages.
Usage of electronic invoice and other electronic messages for e-commerce in Slovenia can be explained in two levels

1. National standard eSLOG

With the year 2000 Chamber of Commerce initiated a national project (eSLOG), with the intent to promote electronic invoice based on internet/XML technology. At the conclusion of the project there were available XML schemas for basic messages. Each message was created in two levels (simple and complex) due to compatibility reasons with EANCOM (these messages are based on EANCOM data structure). During this project lots of documentation and recommendation was created.
